My coffee table book, La Jolla: Jewel by the Sea, is on bookstore shelves now. As a photographer, writer, and La Jolla native, I wanted to share my hometown’s history and scenic beauty with visitors and locals. My book features historical landmarks, notable La Jollans, annual events, marine life, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and, of course, the beaches and ocean (my favorite kinds of shots). I love photographing beautiful landscapes, seascapes, and nature scenes. La Jolla: Jewel by the Sea ($24.95 hardcover) can be purchased at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Warwick’s in La Jolla, and other locations. I hope you will check it out.

Please enjoy perusing my online galleries. You can click on an image to enlarge it. To close it, click on the X. To move through the enlarged images, use the right or left arrow keys on your keyboard. An enlarged image displays a caption with the photo’s title or description. The I.D. number of the image is in parentheses. If you are interested in purchasing a print, most of my images are available at Great American Art. Their site displays more of my photos than can be seen on my website, so I hope you will visit them and do a search for my name and whatever location you may be interested in.

Fun News From Ann

August 2019 saw the third annual San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books in Liberty Station, presented by UC San Diego. It was a great success, and I enjoyed being a panelist on the San Diego Local panel. I spoke about my book, La Jolla: Jewel by the Sea. The night before, I was especially honored to be a featured speaker at a KPBS Producers Club event at the Prado in Balboa Park. What an incredible evening! John Wilkens, a reporter from The San Diego Union-Tribune, moderated the panel of three authors. Two of us were also photographers. A book signing followed.

2019 is here, and the San Diego Community Newspaper Group has published a very nice online article about my coffee table book and me, "‘La Jolla: Jewel by the Sea’ showcases area’s history and beauty." I am also excited to announce that many of my images are now available as prints from San Diego Fine Art Resources (SD-FAR).

Lots of things happened in 2018. My coffee table photo book, La Jolla: Jewel by the Sea, came out in October from Sunbelt Publications. Warwick's Books, on Girard Avenue in La Jolla, hosted a book signing for me November 8. There was a great turnout, and I talked about the book's genesis, photography, and my family's history in La Jolla. Of course there was a slide show. My book has been on the Warwick's bestseller list, even reaching #1, which was a real thrill for me.

Earlier in the year, I was very honored to have been selected as a featured artist by Art.com during Women's History Month. Click here to watch the video. In January, I traveled again to the wilds of the Canadian Rockies. I just can't get enough of the winter beauty there. One of my Canadian Rockies images taken in 2017 will be in the 2019 Sierra Club Engagement Calendar.

Where has 2017 gone? The year zipped by. I enjoyed a fantastic and very cold winter photography trip to the Canadian Rockies. Late fall found me in Arizona and Utah. In the meantime, the 2018 Sierra Club Calendars went on sale at the Sierra Club online store and book retailers. My winter dawn image of Bryce Canyon is in the wall calendar, and a Great Smoky Mountains Little Pigeon River image is in the engagement calendar. I am always honored to have my work published in such prestigious and beautiful calendars.

The end of July 2016 was a busy time for me. I made two presentations to local camera clubs. The Photo Naturalists Camera Club heard me speak about Photography on the Road: Adventures, Workshops, and Lessons Learned. The North County Photographic Society in Encinitas, CA, learned about The Digital Darkroom: Tips and Tricks.

My work is making its way out into the world. Framed prints, metal prints, canvas prints, and acrylic face-mounted prints of my photography can now be purchased from Great American Art. To view all of my available images, go to their website by clicking on the above link and putting my name--Ann Collins--in their search field. If you’re looking for photos I’ve shot at a specific location, such as La Jolla, add the location to the search field as well.

Selected images of mine are now available for licensing from Danita Delimont Stock Photography. Again, to see my images, put my name in the search field.

I’m also very happy to announce that I will have two photos in the 2017 Sierra Club Calendars. What a thrill!

Several of my local images have graced the covers of La Jolla: About Town and Solana Beach: About Town magazines. Another will be coming soon in fall 2016.

My black-and-white image, Mojave Desert Rainstorm, was juried into the 2014 Best of Nature Photography Show in the Ordover Gallery of the San Diego Natural History Museum, which was a real honor.
